Ideogram 4.5
Ideogram 4.5 is the image model Ideogram launched on September 30, 2026 and bills as “the most precise edit model.” Its pitch is simple: you can edit the same image again and again — recolor, relight, swap an object, rewrite a headline — and the parts you did not ask to change stay the way they were.

- What: an image generation and editing model built for repeated (multi-turn) edits with less drift — fewer pixel shifts, color changes and softened textures between rounds.
- Released: September 30, 2026, in the Ideogram app and API and on partner platforms (fal, Replicate, Pika, Picsart, Krea, Morphic and others).
- Key controls: up to 4 reference images (3 when you also use a mask), an optional mask, a precise-edit mode that keeps unchanged pixels, four quality levels.
- Output: native 2K; precise edits come back at the source image's dimensions. Prompts can be up to 10,000 characters.
- API price: $0.008 to $0.22 per edited image on fal, depending on quality level.
- Open weights: announced as “coming soon.” Not released as of October 13, 2026.
What is Ideogram 4.5?
Ideogram 4.0 was mainly a text-to-image release. Ideogram 4.5 moves the focus to editing. Ideogram's launch material describes the problem it targets: with existing image models, repeated edits introduce pixel shifts, color changes and texture changes, so an image degrades a little more with every round. Ideogram says 4.5 “reduces this drift, preserving details across multi-turn edits.”
On its model page Ideogram compares the same edit chain run on GPT Image and Nano Banana, saying those outputs “become unusable within a few edits” while Ideogram 4.5 “stays clean edit after edit.” That comparison is Ideogram's own and comes without published methodology, so treat it as a vendor claim and test it on your own images.
The model still generates images from a prompt, including text-heavy designs, which has been Ideogram's strength since earlier versions.
Ideogram 4.5 features
| Feature | What it does |
|---|---|
| Multi-turn editing | Chain many edits on one image with less accumulated drift. |
| Precise edit mode | Changes only the requested area; untouched pixels are carried over from the source and the result keeps the source dimensions. |
| Reference images | Up to 4 per edit, or up to 3 when a mask is used. References guide the edit and are never edited themselves. |
| Masks | Optional. In the API, black marks the area to edit and white the area to keep. |
| Crop-and-stitch | Edit a crop of a very large photo and merge it back; Ideogram says the model preserves the crop's edges so it stitches in seamlessly. |
| Text edits | Rewrite or translate lettering in an image while keeping its style, size and position. |
| Quality levels | Four for editing (very low, low, medium, high); three for text-to-image (low, medium, high). |
| Prompt format | Natural language or structured JSON, up to 10,000 characters. |

What people use it for
Ideogram's own examples are grouped into color and lighting changes, product photography, interior design, architecture, restoring old photos, sketch to image, reframing, depth to image, style reference and text modification (for example translating a sign into Japanese, French or English). Its launch post shows a single room photo used as a design canvas: furnishings, finishes and palettes swapped one edit at a time.
How to use Ideogram 4.5 in three steps
- Pick where to run it
Use the Ideogram app, or a partner that hosts the model such as fal, Replicate, Pika, Picsart, Krea or Morphic. See pricing and where to use it. - Upload the source image and describe one change
Say what to change and, just as clearly, what must stay. Add reference images if the edit needs a specific product, style or object. - Keep editing the result
Feed the output back in for the next change. This is the multi-turn workflow the model is designed for. Full walkthrough: how to use Ideogram 4.5.

How many reference images can I use?
Up to 4 per edit, or up to 3 when you also supply a mask.
What resolution does Ideogram 4.5 output?

Early results are mixed but positive for its niche. Artificial Analysis placed it 23rd on its image-editing leaderboard and 34th on text-to-image (up from 40th for Ideogram 4.0 Quality), as reported by AlphaSignal. Its closest-to-leader areas are text and symbol edits, scene and style edits, and composition. The multi-turn stability claim has not been independently benchmarked yet.
