Ideogram 4.5 vs GPT Image 2.5

Updated 2026-10-13

Quick answer
  • Pick Ideogram 4.5 for targeted edits that must leave the rest untouched, for masked edits, and for restyling or translating lettering.
  • Pick GPT Image 2.5 for up to 4K output, transparent backgrounds, many references (up to 16) or dense text layouts.
  • Picsart's rule of thumb: choose Ideogram by the task, choose GPT Image 2.5 by the deadline.

What the leaderboards say

Ideogram's launch claim is that GPT Image and Nano Banana outputs “become unusable within a few edits” while 4.5 stays clean. That is a vendor comparison without published methodology.

On independent testing so far, AlphaSignal reports Ideogram 4.5 at 23rd on Artificial Analysis's image-editing leaderboard — Ideogram's first entry on that board — and 34th on text-to-image. Those rankings measure single-pass quality, not stability over a chain of edits, which is the thing 4.5 was built for. If multi-turn stability is why you are choosing, run the same five- or ten-step chain on both models with your own images.

FAQ

Is Ideogram 4.5 better than GPT Image 2.5?

Not across the board. It is the better fit for contained, repeated edits and lettering work; GPT Image 2.5 offers higher resolution, more references and transparency.

How does it compare to Nano Banana?

Ideogram's page compares 4.5 with Nano Banana Pro and Nano Banana 2 and says they degrade faster across repeated edits. We have not found an independent multi-turn test yet.

Can I try both in one place?

Yes. Picsart AI Playground and Morphic's Canvas host Ideogram 4.5 alongside GPT Image 2.5.
