Ideogram 4.5 API
Ideogram 4.5 is available through Ideogram's own API and through hosts such as fal, Replicate, each::labs and Pika. Parameter names vary slightly between hosts; the tables below follow the fal and each::labs documentation.
Endpoints
| Endpoint | Host ID | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Text to image | ideogram/v4.5 (fal) | Generate an image from a prompt. |
| Edit | ideogram/v4.5/edit (fal) | Edit a source image with a prompt, optional references and mask. |
| Combined | ideogram-ai/ideogram-4-5 (Replicate) | Text to image with a prompt only, or edit when images are passed. |
Edit parameters
| Parameter | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|
prompt | yes | The edit instruction. Natural language or JSON, up to 10,000 characters. |
image_url | yes | The source image. fal accepts jpg, jpeg, png, webp, gif, avif, heic and heif. |
reference_image_urls | no | Up to 4, or 3 with a mask. |
mask_url | no | Black = edit, white = keep. Must match the source dimensions and contain both colors. |
quality | no | very low, low, medium or high. |
image_size | no | Defaults to auto, which keeps the source dimensions. |
| seed | no | Fix it to make runs repeatable. |
Replicate's version takes the source and references together in images (up to five) and uses size: "source" to keep the source proportions.
Image size rules
- Named presets and custom sizes apply only to unmasked edits.
- Custom sizes must be at least 256 px per side, in multiples of 32.
- Masked edits always return at the source size.
- Text to image defaults to square HD, with square, portrait and landscape presets in 4:3 and 16:9 plus custom sizes.
- Output is native 2K; AlphaSignal reports supported dimensions up to about 3K.
Responses and batching
A request can return up to 8 images. Hosts return a prediction you can poll or receive by webhook. Text to image accepts prompt, image size, quality (low, medium or high; medium is the default on each::labs), number of images and an optional seed.
Cost
On fal, edits are $0.008, $0.03, $0.06 or $0.22 per image by quality level, and text to image is $0.03, $0.06 or $0.22. Image size does not change the price. See pricing for other hosts.
FAQ
Is there an official Ideogram 4.5 API?
Yes. Ideogram lists API, API docs and API pricing on its site, and the model launched in its API on day one.
What is the difference between precise edit and generate and edit?
Precise edit returns output at the input dimensions and preserves unchanged pixels. Generate and edit combines reference-driven generation with editing.
Can I run Ideogram 4.5 locally?
Not yet. Open weights have been announced but not released. See open weights status.
